Karideph (homeworld of the Kari)
Karideph
Description: The spaceport on Karideph is maintained by the Empire, and the surrounding city is the only concentration of non-Kari on the planet. The rest of the surface, and throughout underground tunnels across the planet, Karideph is dominated by its native sapient species - the Kari. The Kari appear to be an insectoid species with a hive-oriented society. They are technologically savvy, though their native industrial base is significantly less advanced than the Galactic standard; they had not yet achieved interplanetary space travel before the first Republic explorers discovered the system. The Kari seem happy to trade with off-worlders, especially for any technology they cannot produce locally, as well as raw materials not available on their homeworld. Little is known about the Kari themselves, as outsiders are rarely permitted to travel freely outside the spaceport and surrounding city.
